PITCH
After an MVP is developed and your upcoming company has a plan for its future, it is time to present your good or service to others.
The key to a successful startup is a team with proficient public speakers. Good public speaking skill can take your start up idea into a reality. In Engineers in Business, each group will prepare for various pitch competitions. In these competitions, there is generally a 10 to 20-minute time slot to prove to your audience that your product has potential to succeed in the marketplace followed by a Q&A session. Furthermore, most competitions include a short poster session where various people will come around and visually inspect your prototype and ask more personal questions about the team and the product. During these confrontations with the judges, appropriate preparation and research is necessary to answer the abundance of questions they will have for you.
To perform well in competitions, practice, practice, and practice some more. As for everything, practice makes perfect. Present your presentation to mentors, professors, friends, and anyone else who will listen to your presentation. The more people that witness your performance, the more comfortable you will become when presentations day arrives. Furthermore, the hardest part of presenting to judges or investors is answering their questions thoroughly and in an efficient manner. The more you present to others, the larger the variation of questions will be asked. Work hard on addressing the reoccurring question in your presentation.
